Local Event – Jandowae Timbertown Festival 2016

Jandowae is a small town of 1000 people – just 25klm north of Jimbour- but every second year, on the June Long Weekend ( as part of Queensland Week) the town transforms into a bustling hive of activity.

10 000 people are expected to attend the event travelling from near and far to ‘come celebrate our culture’, as is the theme of the Festival.

The Festival events include: Gala Art Show, Street Festival, Markets, Woodchopping, Rides, Yabby Races, Miniature Train Rides, Rodeo Extravagaza, Grand Parade, Vintage Show and Shine, Live Music, Reptile Shows, Animal Farm and so much more.

High tea launches Women of Lot Feeding | Photos

The Women of Lot Feeding organisation’s inaugural high tea, held at Jimbour House on Saturday, has exceeded all expectations with over 150 delegates attending the event from areas throughout Queensland and New South Wales.

The high tea was held to launch the new organisation, which was created to establish a professional networking platform for women involved in the lot feeding industry.

Women of Lot Feeding committee member Amanda Moohen said the group’s mission is to bring together a network of passionate women within the lot feeding industry by providing inspiration, support and opportunity to pave the way for sustainable careers in the Australian lot feeding industry.

Cocktails at Jimbour House shine light on cancer research

Dapper men and women from across the state assisted in raising nearly $30,000 for Ovarian Cancer research at the inaugural Cocktails for a Cure event at Jimbour House on Saturday night.

Cocktails, canapes, raffles, auctions and live music entertained the crowd of 340 before a beautiful backdrop on a gorgeous evening for a good cause.

Event organiser Edwina McVeigh said the support she received was overwhelming.

“My expectations were blown away. Guests were there to have a great time but everyone really took on board why they were there,” she said.

Mater Research associate professor and guest speaker, Dr John Hooper, defined Ovarian Cancer and discussed the Mater Research Institute’s progress with various research projects.

Women of Lotfeeding plan Jimbour high-tea gathering

A new non-profit industry special interest group, Women of Lot Feeding, is planning its inaugural gathering at historic Jimbour House near Dalby early next month.

A High Tea will be held in the  picturesque grounds of Jimbour, located in the ‘heart’ of Australia’s  biggest concentration of feedlots on Queensland’s Darling Downs.

The event will be held on Saturday 5 March. The grounds will be open at 12 noon for registration, with formal proceedings starting at 2pm.
