Thousands left enchanted by beautiful Opera at Jimbour

THOUSANDS of opera lovers sat under clear skies to enjoy this year’s Opera at Jimbour at the weekend.

The Queensland Music Festival and Opera Queensland again partnered to put on the opera which this year was a semi-staged concert version of Franz Lehar’s famouse The Merry Widow.

“It all went really, really well,” senior project manager Jean Smith said of the outdoor opera in the amphitheatre on the picturesque grounds of the heritage-listed Jimbour House on the Western Downs.

Directed by OperaQ’s Jason Barry-Smith, the opera featured popular tenor David Hobson, soprano Emily Burke with Hayley Sugars and Virgilio Marino.
