7News | 27th April 2019

Home & Away and Neighbours have endured on Australian television screens for three decades and found devoted audiences around the world.

They’ve especially delighted British viewers, keen for their vicarious share of the sunny seaside and suburbs Down Under.

Although not as well known, Aussie soap Return to Eden – which ran for just 22 episodes more than 30 years ago – has had its own international success.

In France, 13 years of re-runs ensured a regular audience, while the Dynasty-style show was an unlikely hit in Finland.

Return to Eden aired for only one season in 1986, after first being televised as a three-part mini-series in 1983.

JIMBOUR House was bought to life with the sound of music on Sunday, as Toowoomba-based singer Cassie Midgely and pianist Tonia Paroz wowed audiences with their musical prowess and abilities during On Stage Favourites.

The drawing room of the historic house was packed out with excited musical lovers who came for an afternoon of culture.

The original performer, Calista Walters, was forced to pull out of the performance just days prior because of illness, but was quick to replace her talents with fellow soprano Ms Midgley.

Airs and graces of a true lady

2019-03-04T11:03:01+10:00March 4th, 2019|

Dalby Herald | 2nd March 2019

IN THE late 1870s it seemed life was at its best for Lady Bell.

The family had settled into the grand home at Jimbour and her children were doing well.

Her husband Joshua Peter had not long been knighted and was an established political figure in Queensland.

Little did she realise the changes and sadness that lay ahead.

As Margaret Miller D’Orsey, she was born in Clare, Ireland in 1841, the daughter of Dr D’Orsey who came to Australia several years later.

Exploring Jimbour House – Queensland Weekender

2017-11-02T10:20:53+10:00November 2nd, 2017|

Jimbour House lies about 20 minutes north of Dalby.

Back in its glory days, its holding stretched over 120,000 hectares and was home to 200 people and over 300,000 sheep. Today the property is a much more modest 4,500 hectares. It’s still a working station, with about 2000 head of cattle.

The main attraction at Jimbour is its grand homestead and gardens.

The gardens are open every day and visitors can explore them on the ‘Living History Walk’. All that’s needed is a gold coin donation and a brochure which visitors can pick up at the entrance. The walk is self-guided and explores the fascinating history of the station and the families that called it home.

Watch Queensland Weekender every Saturday afternoon at 5.30pm on Channel 7 Queensland. The program is repeated nationally on 7Two the following Saturday at 12.30pm and is available for a limited time on catch-up TV at Plus7. For more information and great stories about the ultimate way to spend a weekend in Queensland please visit www.queenslandweekender.com.au.

Rambling Tart Blog

Entering the gates of Jimbour House is like stepping into the setting for a fairy tale.

Gone are the sun-baked fields and humble farmhouses of rural Queensland. Instead, my friend Sue and I found ourselves in a oasis of beauty and peace, where birds sang and warm wind blew through the tree tops.

Last time I showed you the front of Jimbour House and the wonderful kitchen garden. Today we’re ducking around the side of the house to explore the back.
