Big Skies Festival 2022

The Big Skies Festival is officially over! After a huge weekend of live music, markets, camping, feasts and historic tours of our very own Jimbour House, we are feeling so honored to have hosted one of the Darling Down’s most premier events. Featuring iconic musical talents including Daryl Braithwaite, Kate Ceberano, Kacey Chambers and more. Big Skies was a delight for food-lovers, music fans, families, friends and visitors to the region alike.

As the dust settles on our biggest event yet, join us to relive the magical weekend that was!

The weather forecast was perfect for all our smiling visitors, the sun shone over the grounds of Jimbour House as the festival-goers rolled in! Guests began to set up for camping and with a jam-packed schedule, the property was buzzing with energy.

Visitors enjoyed a long lunch on Jacaranda drive under the shade of our sprawling trees and with the pool as a glistening backdrop to enjoy fresh local produce. Guests wandered through market stalls and indulged in hearty meals from the Camp Kitchen. A foodies dream!

We were lucky to welcome Nosferatu Gin to the residence, who provided refreshing beverages to enjoy in the Aircraft Hangar bar all weekend long. Guests could also learn how to shake, stir and strain delicious, signature cocktails with the Nosferatu Gin Masterclasses.

Visitors toured the residence, enjoying the history behind the beloved ‘Palace in the Bush’ and escaping the heat of the day to discover the magic of the Jimbour House interior. These tours are a sell out every year, with so many tales to tell our tour guides share all of the ins and outs of the house. David Russell, custodian of Jimbour House guided several of the tours himself, sharing his incredible knowledge of the history of the home. Russell has long-standing historical roots in the residence, with his grandparents beginning the restoration of the property to it’s original grandeur after purchasing it in 1923. Russell has continued to carry forward the Jimbour tradition and restoration.

As day turned to night, the stage came to life with our star-studded line-up of performers! Splendour filled the air as visitors enjoyed the buzz of some of Australia’s most iconic musical talents. Jimbour House stood tall behind the stage, with bright lights, chanting crowds and a mesmerizing fireworks display, this truly was a weekend to remember.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in delivering such a memorable weekend. We are grateful to collaborate with the Western Downs Regional Council (WDRC) in delivering Big Skies and are already counting down to next year’s festival.
