Escape to the magic of Opera at Jimbour House

Jimbour House proudly announces the return of Queensland Music Trails Opera at Jimbour, taking place from 10-12 May 2024. This glorious succession of operatic performances brings together audiences from the Western Downs region and beyond, creating a weekend full of magic.

The event’s program features a curated selection of some of Queensland’s finest ensembles, Opera Queensland and Ensemble Q, in collaboration with performance partners Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University and Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra. 

Renowned Opera Queensland soloists Eva Kong, Iain Henderson, and Teddy Tahu Rhodes will also grace the stage with their extraordinary talents.

Throughout the weekend, attendees will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the splendour of Opera at Jimbour through a variety of spectacular events.

A number of Hangar Concerts will take place performed within the unique ambience of Jimbour’s aeroplane hangar, providing a unique and experiential performance of chamber music. 

Friday’s Long Lunch, held in the picturesque Jimbour House Courtyard, offers a delectable three-course spread accompanied by a fine selection of wines, all complemented by performances from Queensland Conservatorium’s esteemed wind quintet.
An Afternoon at the Amphitheatre presents a captivating performance of Tosca amidst a bustling atmosphere filled with local market stalls, food, drinks, family activities, and scenic tours of the Jimbour House Gardens via horse-drawn carriage.

In the candlelit ambience of the Jimbour House Chapel, guests can enjoy an exclusive, intimate performance by flautist Alison Mitchell and harpist Emily Granger, both talented musicians from Ensemble Q and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

Celebrate Mother’s Day with Sunrise by the Pool, a unique day-breaking performance followed by an indulgent High Tea experience accompanied by performances from Queensland Conservatorium’s esteemed string quartet in the courtyard.

Guided Jimbour House Tours offer a glimpse into the historic residence, with Twilight Tours providing an opportunity to experience the grandeur of Jimbour at night. Due to their popularity, early booking is recommended to secure a spot.

Drawing Room Recitals will also be taking place throughout the weekend, offering the perfect blend of opera and rich history.
