The Spring Retreat

Antara Retreat

Jimbour House recently opened its doors to host an exclusive event: The Spring Retreat by Antara. On the 4th-6th of November, we welcomed the lovely team from Antara Studios and their guests to enjoy a weekend of pure mindfulness and simple pleasures. We spoke to Amy, founder of Antara Studios in Toowoomba, to get an insight into the retreat and some of the incredible activities which the group enjoyed over the weekend spent at Jimbour.

Guests were welcomed to the property with an opening house tour, an opportunity to explore the residence and gain some insight into Jimbour prior to their stay. Guests had the option of staying for the entire weekend, all inclusive with accommodation, or just visit for the day.

After the tour, the group enjoyed canapès and bubbles in the rose garden, the perfect backdrop to cheers to the weekend ahead.

According to Amy, each of the activities on offer for the guests had a heavy emphasis on mindfulness, taking time and having conscious awareness of what they were doing. Guests partook in yoga and pilates on the manicured, velvet lawns and soaked up the peaceful surrounds. Weekend guests also had the option of indulging in a luxurious facial or massage with the lovely Harriet from Botanical Beauty Co.

A ‘Line & Colour’ Art Workshop was hosted by Camilla Georgie, a local artist, who taught guests how to line draw and paint with watercolors, taking inspiration from nature and the landscapes of the property and its surroundings.

Guests also participated in a hands-on, earthy DIY workshop where they crafted treats for the bath and kitchen, using natural ingredients and herbs from Jimbour’s garden.

Amy says the kitchen garden lunch was the “clear highlight” of the weekend.
“The ever kind and amazing Anita from Impressions on Scott guided us through Jimbour’s Kitchen Garden and had us gather fresh produce directly from the garden to prepare an amazing shared long lunch, which we held under the Grand Fig.”

Guests gathered fresh produce directly from the vegetable garden and enjoyed the afternoon in the fresh air under the swaying Grand Fig tree. They were also encouraged to create their own floral arrangements from the gardens to decorate the table for lunch and dinner – the arrangements were very resourceful and used many of the components discarded from the lunch produce. This exuded the focus on ‘simple pleasures’ at the heart of the retreat.

The weekend concluded with a mindfulness meditation and reflection before guests went their separate ways.

“How truly honored and privileged we are to have held our retreat at Jimbour House. It really was a magical experience and we’re looking forward to hosting another!” -Amy
