With its heritage buildings, towering palms, and ancient figs, Jimbour House transports guests to a timeless place beneath the big skies of the Darling Downs.

Visitors can explore every corner, from taking in the incredible history throughout the residence and grounds to strolling the manicured gardens that evoke a sense of splendour no matter the season. In each and every corner, a new narrative awaits discovery.

William Morgan, our House and Events Services Manager, plays a pivotal role in ensuring that every event and guest experience is nothing short of spectacular.

“I oversee and work with a wonderful team of housekeepers and event crew to ensure our House and our events come together beautifully under the directive of our Events Management team. My role here is very much about making it happen!”.

William’s responsibilities are diverse and encompass everything from housekeeping to the meticulous setup of event spaces. “Ensuring the House is prepared and presented for our guests, as well as the setup and layout of our spectacular event spaces, are crucial parts of my role. These tasks include housekeeping, furniture placement, preparing our linen, and, of course, our signature table settings. Almost everything is processed in-house,” he explains. “I work very closely with my team to ensure every detail is just perfect.”

One of William’s favourite aspects of his job is conducting house tours.

“I very much enjoy showing our guests throughout the house. Seeing their reactions and the way they engage with the house gives me great pleasure”. He also takes pride in hosting the Devonshire Tea, where he and his team prepare and serve much-loved homemade scones, adding a charming touch to the Jimbour experience.

William’s days at Jimbour House are far from typical. “Our offerings are so varied. I am always preparing for our next event, homestay, or house tour”. This dynamic environment keeps his work exciting and fulfilling.

What William loves most about working at Jimbour House is the property itself, its rich history, and the joy it brings to visitors. “I particularly love seeing the house lit up at night when we have house guests or the family in attendance. The view from our northern courtyard is quite beautiful, with the garden lighting on. It has a certain romantic je ne sais quoi, and the house transforms from a house to a home”.

Looking ahead, William is excited about the future of Jimbour House. “I am very excited for the future of Jimbour, perfecting our team’s continued push for excellence and implementing our newly refined offerings”.

Among the many highlights of his tenure, William recalls the 150th celebrations for Jimbour Education when the Queensland Governor stayed at the house and offered complimentary words for their hospitality. “Our larger events, such as Big Skies and Opera at Jimbour, are also most definitely highlights,” he adds, reflecting on the memorable moments that define Jimbour House’s legacy.

Through William’s dedication and the collective efforts of his team, Jimbour House continues to enchant and inspire all who visit, ensuring its timeless charm endures for generations to come.
